KUALA LUMPUR: Mydin Mall Manjoi in Ipoh expects to save up to RM3.24mil in its electricity bill with the installation of a solar rooftop photovoltaic (PV) under an agreement with Tenaga Nasional Bhd
(TNB). TNB, through its unit GSPARX Sdn Bhd, had sealed a supply agreement for renewable energy with Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd last week for the project.
“The 324 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar rooftop photovoltaic (PV) is expected to generate up to RM3.24mil in electricity bill savings within the project’s 25-year duration, ” according to a statement issued by the power giant yesterday.
Mydin Holdings managing director Datuk Wira Dr Ameer Ali Mydin hoped the agreement could also spark similar venture between both parties. “This is a small step that may pave the way towards similar collaboration in seven of our hypermarkets, ” he said.
He added that Mydin’s focus was not solely on generating profit, as it also placed importance on humanity and environment, as outlined by the concept of triple bottom line (people, planet and profit).
